Mexico-China Workshop on NANO : Materials / Science / Technology

NANOMXCN (read: NANO-Mex-China) is a workshop series seeking to promote enhanced collaboration in science and technology between Mexico and China, including Hong Kong SAR with the very important support of colleagues worldwide. The workshop is open to all registered participants of the XXVII International Materials Research Congress (XXVII IMRC).
Previous NANOMXCN events took place held in 2015 (15 – 16, Aug in Cancun as part of the XXIV IMRC meeting), 2016 (4 – 6 Dec 2016 in City University of Hong Kong), 2017, (19-20 Aug in Cancun as part of the XXVI IMRC meeting). Besides, these meetings, the first Topical School NANOMXCN Workshop on Nanosafety and Nanotoxicology – 2018 (NANOMXCN-TOX) took place at Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes (UAA), 26 Feb to 01 Mar 2018. The technical session of the 4th NANOMXCN workshop will focus on the use of nanostructured materials to address pressing issues of modern day society in the fields of renewable energy and environmental remediation. Self- assembled nanostructures play major roles in the design and prototyping of advanced devices to solve such complex problems because they provide unique opportunities inlcuding increased surface to volume ratio, particle/quasi-particle confinement (including electrons, photons, plasmons, etc.) that provide powerful new opportunities to control and tailor the resulting material properties. The scientific discussions will focus on the use of nanostructured system design for enhanced device performance by control of the composition and nano- to micro- structure of materials to optimize the properties of interest and response to the working environment. This will include, for example, development of new synthesis and surface engineering methods – including in-situ characterization and control – to realize materials with desired properties, model strategies for optimization of nano- and micro- structure and composition, the resulting interfaces, and optimize device performance, and design of novel strategies to harness the advantages of nanotechnology approaches including enhanced surface-to-volume ratio, electronic, photonic, and plasmonic confinement.
